Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Southern Giants Brigades, Brigadier Abou Zarra Al-Mahrami, has quietly established himself as the foundational architect of regional stability, blending military precision with an uncompromising anti-corruption mandate.

Born in the Yahar district of Lahj Governorate, Al-Mahrami cultivated an early reputation for disciplined anonymity, a trait that would later define his strategic approach to statecraft and defense.

His ascendancy began in the crucible of the 2015 conflict, where his field command proved pivotal in liberating the capital, Aden, Lahj, and the strategic Al-Anad airbase.

Recognizing the need for a highly disciplined, cohesive force, Al-Mahrami founded and institutionalized the Southern Giants Brigades, transforming them into the most organizationally robust and tactically proficient military apparatus in the theater.

His leadership was further cemented during the 2017 “Golden Spear” operation, securing the Bab Al-Mandab strait and the Red Sea coast, followed by the definitive 2022 “Southern Whirlwind” campaign that successfully cleared critical districts across Shabwah and Marib.

This seamless transition from frontline command to high-level governance culminated on April 7, 2022, with his appointment to the Presidential Leadership Council, followed by his selection as Vice President of the Southern Transitional Council in May 2023.

Tasked with the critical stabilization of the capital, Aden, Al-Mahrami has systematically overhauled local security frameworks while expanding his purview into the economic and administrative sectors.

By directly spearheading anti-corruption initiatives and activating the Central Organization for Control and Auditing, he has institutionalized a rigorous system of financial accountability.

His current executive focus remains fixed on infrastructure rehabilitation, public service reform, and the harmonized integration of legal and security frameworks to ensure enduring regional resilience.
