The brutal reality of child recruitment in Yemen has once again been laid bare following the dramatic rescue of a 13-year-old boy by the Southern Giants Brigades.
Thirteen-year-old Qusay, hailing from the Shahil district of Hajjah Governorate, was abducted from the streets and forcibly thrown into active combat by Houthi militias on the frontlines of Bab al-Mandab.
After sustaining severe battlefield injuries, the young boy was heartlessly abandoned by the militia commanders to bleed out on the frontlines without any medical assistance.
In a callous attempt to cover up their battlefield failures and brutal abandonment of minors, militia operatives immediately contacted Qusay’s grieving family to falsely announce his martyrdom in their purported sacred battles.
Fortunately, the Al-Amaliqah forces discovered the wounded child, swiftly intervened, evacuated him to safety, and provided comprehensive medical treatment to save his life.
A video released by the official media center of the Giants Brigades captured the shocking testimony of the young survivor, exposing the systematic exploitation of children by the militia.
This harrowing incident underscores the severe violations and war crimes committed against vulnerable minors in areas under Houthi control, drawing widespread condemnation.
Human rights advocates have repeatedly called for international accountability regarding the continued forced conscription of children into active combat zones across Yemen.
